HCL Tamil Nadu State Bridge Championship Kick-Started in Madurai

 


HCL, a leading global conglomerate, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Bridge Association kick-started the three-day HCL Tamil Nadu State Bridge Championship on 28th july in Madurai. Dr. Palanivel Thiagarajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu was present during the opening ceremony to inaugurate the event. Over 150 players and 40 teams from India are competing at the championship for a total prize purse of Rs. 4 lakhs. The Championship will offer an array of exciting opportunities for bridge enthusiasts in both the Team and Pairs categories, ensuring an intellectual experience for players of all proficiency levels. On the first day, the teams will participate in a Swiss league to determine the top 6-8 qualifiers for the playoffs. 

Day 2 will witness the qualified teams engaging in a full-fledged round-robin, determining the final standings. Teams that are not able to qualify for the playoffs would play a continuing Swiss league to place in the Silver Team standings. The Beginners’ team event is intended for participants who have been playing the game for 2 years or less. Participants will be awarded cash prizes based on their rank within their respective competition categories.

MP Pairs Event Scheduled on the third day of the tournament, this event will feature an exciting one-session format, spanning approximately 24 boards. Top finishers will be awarded a cash prize, depending on their rank. Bridge enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to compete in a one-session IMP Pairs Event. is also a 1 session event held on day 3 of the tournament.
