Britannia Marie Gold Launches a first-of-its-kind Crowd Funding Initiative in TN



On the occasion of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Britannia Marie Gold introduced a crowdfunding initiative in Tamil Nadu to support five Women entrepreneurs across the state, garner more capital to grow their businesses. It has rolled out new packs featuring inspirational stories of these TN homemakers-turned-entrepreneurs. As per the reports the new initiative will provide a platform for these women entrepreneurs to source crowd funding for the expansion of their startups. With the stories of these Women entrepreneurs on the packs, Britannia aims to inspire many more homemakers to start off on their entrepreneurial journeys.

The Britannia Marie Gold My Startup initiative was set up in 2019 to enable homemakers across the country to be more and do more, and has till date funded 30 homemakers start off on their maiden entrepreneurial journeys.  The contest has run three successful seasons, drawing over 3 million entries from the length and the breadth of the country. The Britannia Marie Gold My Startup initiative has seen participation from close to 9 lac homemakers in Tamil Nadu.This is also the first time, the brand is leveraging the reach of its packs to provide an opportunity to Women entrepreneurs to grow on the back of a crowd-funding initiative.  

Sharing the rationale behind this initiative, Mr. Amit Doshi, Chief Marketing Officer, Britannia, said, ‘’Women entrepreneurs have the potential to become one of the biggest driving forces in India’s growth story. Crowd funding is emerging as a phenomenon in India to help raise capital for entrepreneurs, and Marie Gold being a catalyst in the space of women entrepreneurship is launching this opportunity for the first time in Tamil Nadu. Crowdfunding is about storytelling, communication, technology and consumer behaviour coming together.  We are confident that the people of Tamil Nadu will come together to make this initiative a success. We plan to scale this up as a national initiative, post the launch in Tamil Nadu”.
