Tata Steel Brand Protection Team and Tamil Nadu Police conduct raid in Kanchipuram to seize fake Tata products


Tata Steel officials, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Police, conducted a raid on a wholesaler located in Kanchipuram, for infringing the Tata brand name and selling fake Tata branded pipes illegally. The products were being sold under the registered ‘TATA’ trademark and branding in an attempt to deceive consumers into believing that they were purchasing genuine Tata products.

Upon receiving information about the unscrupulous activity, Tata Steel along with the Tamil Nadu Police conducted the raid on the wholesaler and seized the infringing products on October 3, 2023,. An FIR has been registered against the party under the provisions of the Copyright Act 1957 and the owner has been arrested.Tata Steel’s products possess tremendous goodwill in the minds of the consumers and the unauthorised use of its brand name on counterfeit products can cause damage to its reputation.

 To safeguard its brand reputation and goodwill, Tata Steel's dedicated brand protection team diligently monitors and takes decisive action against entities that infringe upon the brand's intellectual property rights, including counterfeiters. The Company remains committed to taking legal action against any such illicit activities that undermine its assets and harm its customers.
