India's very own indigenousy developed surgical robotic system - SSi Mantra - achieves 1000 surgeries milestone

SS Innovations, the developer of India’s first surgical robotic system, the SSi Mantra, dedicated to making robotic surgeries cost-effective and accessible to a global population, announced a milestone achievement of successful completion of 1000 robotic surgeries using SSi Mantra Surgical Robotic System, marking another significant milestone in the annals of the company.

To recall, the first SSi Mantra Surgical Robotic System was first commercially installed at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Rohini, New Delhi in July 2022. In a short span of under 2 years, SSi Mantra has been installed in over 30 hospitals across the country and in Dubai and also been installed for teaching and training at the world famous Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA.

The SSi Mantra Surgical Robotic System is the first surgical system to be made in India, and the only system in the world to be distinctly cost-effective with the capability to perform a broad-spectrum of surgical applications, including cardiac surgery. The SSi Mantra Robotic System has been granted regulatory approval in India, Indonesia and most recently, Guatemala.

The SSi Mantra Surgical Robotic System is clinically validated in more than 50 different types of surgical procedures and now, 1000 surgical procedures have been performed to date. SS Innovations expects to secure regulatory approvals in the United States and Europe in the 2024 - 2025 time frame.

Founder, Chairman & CEO of SS Innovations, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava and the brain behind SSi Mantra System, also known as the Robo Doctor, says, “It is a great pleasure to realize that from humble beginnings as a company, and through the dedication and effort of our team, along with enormous support from the community of surgeons from all corners of India and the globe, that we have collectively achieved this milestone of 1000 successful surgeries using our innovative SSi Mantra System. I am deeply grateful to all who have shared our vision of making Gold Standard Healthcare, an affordable and accessible right for many patients in India, who otherwise may not have had access to this level of advanced care. With over 30 installations and 1000 successful surgeries, we have just touched the tip of the iceberg. Although this milestone is very significant, more importantly, it reminds us of how much more we have to accomplish in India and around the world. I believe that SSi Mantra has the potential to become the most used Surgical Robotic System in India and the world in the next few years.”
