In a significant step towards boosting startups and promoting grassroots entrepreneurship, the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) has set a Guinness World Record for the “Most People to Sign up Online to an Entrepreneurship/Startup/Business Programme in 24 hours, achieving a 1,63,254 registrations between 12:30 pm on August 19 and 12:30 pm on August 20.
The record was created under the ‘Avishkarana Andhra’ campaign, an initiative aimed at encouraging students, homemakers, innovators, and young people across the state to embrace innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. The programme is designed to nurture start-up culture at the grassroots level and stimulate job creation and economic growth.
The Guinness World Records certificate was presented to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and AP Innovation Society CEO Surya Tea at a formal ceremony by the official adjudicator Rishi Nath, and Guinness World Record strategist Nischal Barot, who led the execution of the attempt.
The event was attended by senior leaders, including MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas and Industries and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, along with leading figures from industry. The participants praised the Andhra Pradesh government’s vision to promote entrepreneurship as a driving force for the state’s future.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the Guinness World Record achievement as a milestone for Andhra Pradesh’s startup ecosystem and reaffirmed his government’s goal of “One Family, One Entrepreneur”.
Nischal Barot, who has overseen 63 Guinness World Record attempts for various state governments across India, was responsible for the strategic planning, verification process and certification procedures for this record.
The achievement has placed Andhra Pradesh on the global stage, giving international recognition to the state’s efforts in building an inclusive start-up movement and signalling a new chapter in grassroots entrepreneurship.
