In an effort to generate awareness among people about robotic cardiac surgery and the rising trend of using minimally invasive surgery for treating heart diseases, Narayana Health City organized a program in Salem city. The event was chaired by Dr. Thiruthani Kumaran M M, Senior Consultant - Cardiac Surgery, Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, who talked about how robotic-assisted surgical techniques have revolutionized today’s heart treatments with their safer, less invasive, and quicker methods.
As part of the event, Narayana Health City highlighted a significant milestone in advanced cardiac care, having successfully performed more than 1,200 robotic cardiac surgeries for patients from India and across the globe. Notably, over 200 of these surgeries, accounting for nearly 17% of the total robotic cardiac surgeries performed, have been conducted for patients from Tamil Nadu since the launch of the Cardiac Robotic Surgery program at the hospital in April 2025.
Speaking about the growing adoption of Robotic Cardiac Surgery, Dr. Thiruthani Kumaran M M said, “Robotic cardiac surgery is transforming the way complex heart surgeries are performed today. With robotic technology, we are able to offer greater surgical precision, minimal blood loss, reduced pain, smaller scars, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery for patients. What was once considered highly challenging can now be performed with enhanced safety and accuracy through minimally invasive techniques.”
He further added, “The successful completion of over 1,200 robotic cardiac surgeries is not just a numerical milestone, but a reflection of the trust patients place in us from across India and internationally. We are especially witnessing a significant rise in patients from Tamil Nadu choosing robotic cardiac surgeries at our center. The increasing acceptance from Tamil Nadu highlights the growing awareness and confidence among patients towards minimally invasive robotic heart surgery, driven by faster recovery, reduced post-operative discomfort, early return to normal life, and excellent clinical outcomes.”
This initiative organized as part of Narayana Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness about advanced cardiac treatment options and the importance of timely medical intervention. The growing number of patients from Salem and the surrounding districts stands as a strong testament to the rising demand for specialized cardiac care and advanced robotic heart surgeries in the region. It also reflects the increasing trust and confidence patients place in Narayana Health City for delivering complex cardiac care with advanced technology and clinical excellence. Dr. Thiruthani Kumaran M M conducts regular outpatient consultations on the fourth Saturday of every month at Jaai Dev Hospital, Minnampalli, Salem, allowing patients to receive specialized guidance and continuity of care closer to their hometown.
