Godrej Agrovet's Dairy Knowledge Series Targets "A Calf a Year from Every Cow"

Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), one of India’s largest farm-to-protein platforms, today hosted a session of its Dairy Knowledge Series programme in Namakkal, bringing together more than 100 dairy farmers. 

The session was led by Dr. N. Sri Balaji, M.V.Sc., Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Livestock Production Management, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, who covered scientific livestock management pratices across a cattle's lifecycle - including calf care, balanced nutrition, water management, and feeding practices such as Ration Balancing and Total Mixed Ration. The goal was to encourage farmers to adopt practical approaches that support "a calf a year from every cow" through consistent, science-based herd management. The Dairy Knowledge Series is a key initiative by Godrej Agrovet to encourage knowledge-sharing through on-ground engagement with farmers and industry experts.

Commenting on the initiative, Capt. (Dr.) A.Y. Rajendra, CEO - Animal Nutrition Business, Godrej Agrovet, said, " The foundation of a productive dairy farm is laid much before an animal starts producing milk. Through the Dairy Knowledge Series, our objective is to create a platform where dairy farmers can directly interact with experts and gain practical insights into scientific dairy management. By taking these sessions to key dairy-producing regions, we hope to encourage greater awareness and adoption of best management practices that can help farmers make informed decisions on their farms." 

Sharing his perspective, DR. N. Sri Balaji,  M.V.Sc,PhD., said, " Every stage in an animal's lifecycle presents an opportunity to improve productivity and farm outcomes. From calf rearing and transition management to nutrition and reproductive care, small, scientific interventions can make a significant difference over time. Our aim was to provide farmers with actionable insights and practical guidance that can help them make informed management decisions and build more productive, sustainable dairy operations.." 

Godrej Agrovet plans to continue the Dairy Knowledge Series across key dairy-producing regions in Tamil Nadu and other states, enabling more farmers to engage with experts and learn about scientific dairy management practices.
