Minister for Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, Ku. Jegadeshwari, issued a press release regarding the proposed expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme in government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu is as follows:
The TVK government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, is functioning as a government that is fulfilling, one by one, the promises made in the election manifesto. As the next step towards fulfilling the promise made in the election manifesto to expand the breakfast scheme, which is currently being provided to students from Classes 1 to 5 in government and government-aided schools, up to Class 8, the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme is being expanded to students of Classes 6 to 8 as well.
On 22-09-2026 (Tuesday), the Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to launch this scheme in Chennai. Through this, 15,30,141 students studying in Classes 6 to 8 in 15,910 government and government-aided schools across Tamil Nadu will benefit from the breakfast scheme expansion programme.
Minister for Social Welfare and Women’s Rights, Ku. Jegadeshwari said, “The expansion of this scheme is yet another proof that we will do what we said in the election manifesto; we will fulfil what we promised. It is the objective of our government to fulfil, one by one, the promises given with the welfare and educational progress of students in mind. We will not leave the promises given to the people as mere announcements; we will convert them into action plans and implement them in practice.At this moment, I am happy to extend my wishes to the student beneficiaries who are going to benefit under the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme, as well as to the teachers, noon-meal workers and everyone involved.
