Tirunelveli is an important healthcare and commercial centre in southern Tamil Nadu. Growing healthcare awareness, rising treatment costs and increasing demand for quality healthcare closer to home are strengthening the relevance of health insurance across the region.

Mr. Balaji Babu C, Business Head - Tamil Nadu, Star Health Insurance, said: “Healthcare access is expanding steadily beyond the larger cities, while rising medical costs are making health protection an increasingly important part of household financial planning. Tamil Nadu continues to be an important market for Star Health. In FY26, we recorded GWP of over ₹2,250 crore in the state, registering 17% year-on-year growth. Today, we cover over 14.3 lakh lives across Tamil Nadu and are supported by a network of nearly 2,000 hospitals. This scale reinforces the importance of building strong local servicing capabilities that bring customers, advisors and healthcare partners closer together. Tirunelveli plays an important role in our southern Tamil Nadu network, serving a wider catchment of towns and surrounding districts. The new Zonal Office will allow us to work more closely with customers, advisors and healthcare partners in the region. Our focus is to deepen health insurance awareness, improve access to protection and ensure families receive timely and dependable support throughout their healthcare journey.”

Star Health has built a strong distribution and servicing network across Tamil Nadu, comprising 115 branches, over 1.16 lakh advisors and 1,350+ employees. The network enables greater customer access and local servicing across markets in the state.

In the Tirunelveli Zone, Star Health settled 14,000+ claims worth over ₹76 crore in FY26, supporting customers across hospitalisation, surgical procedures and other healthcare needs. Across its operations, the company’s claims capabilities are supported by a 92% retail claims settlement ratio, 84% cashless claims settlement and 92% of cashless claims processed within three hours.

Spread across 1,560 sq. ft., the new Tirunelveli Zonal Office has 24 employees and will support customer servicing, advisor engagement and coordination with healthcare partners across the five districts under the zone.
